Jennifer Imsland, LMFT
Welcome. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a private practice in New Brighton, MN. I provide psychotherapy and counseling services to teen and adults, couples, and families.
My therapeutic style is empathic, relationally focused, values authenticity and is always accepting. I consider all of the different factors of past, present and future which impact you today. My goal is to partner with you so that together we can identify your next steps to equip you to live the life you choose. I have a Christian perspective and value spirituality as a positive resource for our lives.
I served for 5 years as a missionary in Haiti and often work with missionaries overseas as they transition to their host country. My cross-cultural experience allows me to view situations from a unique perspective.
I am a trained Sand-tray therapist which uses our more creative side to process problems that may be difficult to put words to.
I have three adult children who I adore. I spend most of my free time either hanging out with my family, friends or animals, remodeling my home or paddling on a nearby lake with my stand up paddle board. I am a plant enthusiast with varying degrees of success in keeping them alive and love treating myself to fancy food at least a couple of times a year.

Jessica Poffenbaugh, MA
I am passionate about working with young adults and teens who feel out of control, whether in their relationships, thought-life, or eating habits. My work with these types of clients often focuses on identifying the patterns that disrupt them from being who they truly want to be and aid them in learning how to tap into their own natural strengths and capabilities for everyday life.
Additionally, I enjoy working with couples facing conflict in their relationship or considering separation. I have obtained specialized training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy and Discernment Counseling that guides me in helping couples rebuild the connection they desire and gain clarity about their future.
My clients often describe me as interactive, compassionate, and candid. Building an understanding and safe environment with clients is my top priority. I work hard to create a relationship with clients that welcomes honesty and the opportunity to face hard truths collaboratively. I use a Christian perspective to inform my work and am willing to incorporate spirituality in whatever way is comfortable for my clients.
My previous experience includes working on a prayer line to receive crisis callers and as an early-childhood teacher. Those positions have helped me walk with clients through their darkest moments with empathy and patience. Additionally, I have volunteer teaching and humanitarian experience in Israel and Mexico, helping me engage with clients from different backgrounds than my own.
I have been married for 3 years and am a new resident to Minnesota. In my free time, you’ll find me hiking, running, baking, cooking, and crocheting. I am always looking to explore new places in Minnesota or elsewhere!
